Testimonies
One of the most powerful resources available to all of us is the individual experience, whether it is a good or a bad experience.
At the shock of receiving that awful phone call, going to the scene, and finding My Grandson, murdered in his own home at the age of 19, all I knew was that a true love of mine, a piece of me, was gone. How could I accept this and believe this has happened to our child, to me and my family? After going through the motions of the formal service and still feeling this isn't happening, how could I ever accept this?
A few months after my Grandson's death, a friend introduced me to "Joy in the Mourning", an organization that offers a grief support group called “From Grief to Joy” for anyone who has suffered the death of a loved one…in my case, the loss of a sweet dear young man who I will hold Dear in My Heart all of my days. This group is a safe place to share with others who really understand how you are feeling and what you have been suffering. You feel what others are going through, and each person consoles and helps the others. It is a place where, over time, healing begins.
I am thankful to Linda Gill, founder of "Joy in the Mourning", and the people that have shared their grief with me and allowed me to share my grief with them. I believe I can truly say to another person attending this support group, "I understand what you are going through…and where you are coming from".
Laus Deo - Praise be to God.
